For whom?

Early orthopedagogical intervention is aimed at children from 0 to 8 years oldand more specifically :

  • children who develop more slowly in certain areas
  • children with developmental delays in motor, cognitive, language, sensory and/or social-emotional skills
  • children who are at risk of a disability or children with an established disability.

This support can also be put in place when particular circumstances lead to a developmental risk (e.g. premature birth, birth problems, illnesses, ...).

Why?

The main objective of early intervention is to stimulate and support the child in his or her overall development.

Beyond stimulating the child's skills, it is also important to:

  • develop the child's self-confidence
  • promote participation in daily life to the fullest extent possible
  • strengthen parents' skills in interacting and relating to their child
  • support parents in their current situation.

How do you do it?

At the beginning of the treatment, a developmental assessment is performed.

Subsequently, an intervention project is developed in close collaboration with parents.

This one takes into account the individual needsThe program is based on the needs of the child, as well as the parents' request, and represents an adapted and personalized offer corresponding to the individual situation of the child.

With whom?

A child develops best when supported by his or her family.

This is why the family is involved in the child's individual early intervention.

The early intervention professionals advise, accompany and support the family and, with the parents' agreement, the child's entourage (e.g. educators, teachers, etc.).

Early remedial intervention is provided either by recognized private providers of early remedial intervention (e.g. speech therapists, psychomotor therapists, occupational therapists), or by early intervention services.

Where?

Assistance is provided either in the provider's premisesor at the family's home.
